Disability Network Mid-Michigan partners with state on long-term care support
Disability Network Mid-Michigan expands support through MI Options program
Midland residents exploring long-term care options now have a free resource close to home. Disability Network Mid-Michigan is partnering with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to connect people with person-centered counseling through the statewide MI Options program.
The program is designed to help adults, older residents, and caregivers explore long-term care and support services, from aging at home to navigating major life changes.
“At Disability Network Mid-Michigan, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to make informed choices about their care and independence,” says Kelly PeLong, Executive Director of Disability Network Mid-Michigan.
“Our partnership with MDHHS through the MI Options program ensures that individuals with disabilities, older adults, and caregivers have access to free, personalized guidance that honors their values, respects their choices, and supports their goals to live independently in the community.”
MI Options counselors guide residents through available resources and next steps, helping families make confident choices. The service is free and tailored to each person’s situation. Counselors can:
- Explore long-term care and community-based services.
- Identify services available after a major life event.
- Build action plans that reflect individual values and preferences.
Disability Network Mid-Michigan is a federally funded Center for Independent Living that provides advocacy, skill-building, and transition support for people of all ages and all types of disabilities. More information is available by calling 989-835-4041 or visiting online.
