Less than a century ago hundreds of Native American children were taken from their families and sent to a Mt. Pleasant boarding school in an attempt to assimilate them into white culture. Now, the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan is working with a professor at Central Michigan University to build a picture of what life would have been like at the school and rehabilitate the grounds.

Like many others, Sarah Bloomfield, a hospice nurse for MidMichigan Home Care at the Woodland Hospice House in Mt. Pleasant, has been making face masks to protect herself during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, her masks aren't like others you may see since hers are designed so the hearing-impaired can still lip-read.

"As a project manager, your main focus is solving problems. Over the years, it has been really fun and empowering to tackle that," says Tait.
