Downtown Midland will come alive with celebration on July 4, as the City of Midland Parks and Recreation, Downtown Midland, and the Great Lakes Loons team up to host a community-wide Independence Day Block Party.

The day-long festivities will feature live music, food trucks, baseball, games, and a double fireworks display — offering family-friendly fun in multiple locations across the city.

Downtown activities
The celebration kicks off along Midland’s Pedestrian Plaza, where visitors can enjoy yard games, outdoor seating, shopping, and dining at participating local businesses.

The Chris Canas Band will begin their live performance at 6 p.m. as part of the Commons Live Music Series.

Afternoon events at Dow Diamond
At 4 p.m., festivities move to the front lawn of Dow Diamond, where food trucks and a beer garden will be available. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Live music by The Insiders: Tom Petty Tribute Band, with a special performance by The Bucket Boys from Chicago begins at 8 p.m.

The City of Midland Fireworks Show will start at dusk, around 10 p.m., providing a grand finale to the outdoor festivities.

Baseball and entertainment
For those with tickets, gates to the Great Lakes Loons game open at 6:05 p.m. The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

The stadium will also host a post-game fireworks show. Game tickets allow re-entry for those who want to enjoy both indoor and outdoor events.

Parking and accessibility
Accessible drop-off is available at the corner of E. Ellsworth and State streets, with accessible parking at several downtown locations, including the East End Parking Lot and Dow Diamond Reserved Parking.

Public parking is available at Dow Diamond’s East End and Outfield lots, Larkin Street Parking Garage, and other downtown city lots.

Safety guidelines
The City reminds attendees that personal fireworks, including sparklers and firecrackers, are prohibited in parks. Pets are also discouraged due to noise and safety concerns. Police officers will be on patrol throughout the event to ensure public safety.
