Bay City museum teaches history in order to honor military veterans

About 9,000 U.S. military veterans live in Bay County. A local military museum and the Bay County Department of Veteran Affairs each are planning special events in conjunction with Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

With technological advances and the cyber threats that accompany them, it’s predicted that there will be a faster-than-average growth rate in the employment of information security analysts. To meet that demand, local cyber security experts and colleges are working together to encourage students explore a career in the field.

At Do-Art in downtown Bay City, participants learn about famous painters and other artists. They practice techniques to polish their work. Some students take visual adventures in weaving or paper art. Others focus on chalk and acrylics.

The goal of Do-Art is to help people with disabilities prepare for the next step in their lives, including employment. Recently, many of the artists earned a paycheck for their art.
