River of Time debuts in its new location later this month
River of Time fills Johnson's Pumpkin Farm with living history later this month.
A visit to the Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm later this month could be educational as well as fun.
The River of Time, a Bay City tradition since about 1990, takes place at Johnson’s Pumpkin Farm, 4715 N. Portsmouth Road in Saginaw.
Admission is free to the weekend-long event, which begins at 9 a.m. Fri., Sept. 22 and runs through a 2:30 p.m. Sun., Sept. 24 closing ceremony.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can stroll through demonstrations, battlefield re-enactments, and more. The full schedule and a map of the encampments is posted on Facebook.
During the event, visitors will discover hundreds of re-enactors dressed, acting, and living as though they are Native Americans, colonists, French voyageurs, and Civil War-era soldiers. They will demonstrate crafts, children’s activities, and meal preparations.
New this year are the fall activities at Johnson’s. The farm offers homemade root beer, corn and soybean mazes, train rides, horse rides, and more.
