Sarah Spohn is a Lansing native, but every day finds a new interesting person, place, or thing in towns all over Michigan, leaving her truly smitten with the mitten. She received her degrees in journalism and professional communications and provides coverage for various publications locally, regionally, and nationally — writing stories on small businesses, arts and culture, dining, community, and anything Michigan-made. You can find her in a record shop, a local concert, or eating one too many desserts at a bakery. Creative 360 and the Midland Section of the American Chemical Society are hosting a  series of family-friendly classes centered on gardening, sustainability, and the arts. These STEAM programs provide free, entertaining, and educational lessons for the community.

Popup Palooza returns to Village of Sanford for 2nd year

After the well-loved event, Parkapalooza moved to Midland, Village of Sanford residents hosted their own mini version of the hometown music festival, Popup Palooza last year. This year, the event returns on July 23 at Porte Park.  

The pieces themselves are made out of found wooden materials in nature, whether it’s dead trees or fallen branches.
Big Bugs Brings Larger-than-Life Exhibit to Dow Gardens

Dow Gardens is welcoming Big Bugs, a traveling exhibit, featuring larger-than-life sculptures. From July 15 to Oct. 16, Big Bugs takes over the gardens, with a giant praying mantis, marching ants, a daddy long legs, and more.   

The tournament is offering an additional day of free admission on Wednesday, July 13.
Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational 2022 does it “fore” the community

The Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational returns to the Midland Country Club, July 10-16. The event includes the top professional women golfers in competition, family-friendly events, Eat Great Trail food pop-ups, and much more.

There are some free-play games, as well as quarter machines which range from 25 cents to $1.
New beercade levels up downtown entertainment scene

Brinstar, a new beercade, is now open in downtown Midland. The restaurant, located on Main St., features vintage and new arcade games, a full menu, beer on tap, and mixed drinks.

The festival will be held in the Larkin Parking Garage.
Tapped Beer Festival parks at new location

Tapped Beer Festival returns to downtown Midland, in a new location for its seventh annual event. The festival features live music, food vendors, craft beverage samples, lounge areas, and outdoor games at Larkin Parking Garage on Sat,  June 18.  

New Restaurant Focuses on ‘Bird, Bacon, Bun’ Menu Items

A new restaurant, Winner Winner, is now open in Midland. The business features chicken. It's located on Midland's east side.
