A new hotel will be joining the downtown Midland landscape next year, as reported in the Midland Daily News. Recently, the Midland City Council approved a site plan for a Fairfield Inn & Suites to begin construction during the Council’s meeting on November 6. Construction of the three-story hotel could break ground in the spring of 2018.

The 77-room hotel will be located at 506 East Buttles St. on a square parcel of land currently used for overflow parking by Dow Diamond and surrounding businesses. Previously, the land used to house a used car lot for the Dirk Waltz auto dealership.

The hotel building will be located on the East Ellsworth Street side of the land parcel with 74 parking spaces filling out the rest of the space. The lot is bordered by East Buttles, George, Cronkright and East Ellsworth streets.
