Great Lake Pride announces Pride Month events throughout region

Great Lakes Bay Pride and its regional partners will mark Pride Month with a series of events throughout June aimed at educating the public about LGBTQ2S+ issues, creating community spaces and celebrating diversity, equity and belonging across Bay, Isabella, Midland and Saginaw counties.

The team is inviting LGBTQ2S+ community members and allies throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region to participate in events scheduled throughout the month. Information about all events is available through Great Lakes Bay Pride’s website and online calendar.

Pride Communion Service

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church, St. John’s Episcopal Church of Midland, and Trinity Episcopal Church have collaborated to host a Pride communion service to kick off Pride Month at 6:30 p.m. June 1 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 815 N. Grant St. in Bay City.

Music will be provided by Great Lakes Bay Pride’s Harmony Diversity Choir. The service will include hymns, Scripture readings, a brief sermon, prayers, Holy Communion and personal blessings. Organizers also plan to offer a special blessing for all attendees, followed by fellowship.

Pride Yard Signs

Great Lakes Bay Pride’s annual Pride Yard Sign campaign returns this year with a new design. Signs will be available for pickup June 1 in Midland, June 2 in Bay City and Saginaw, and June 3 in Mount Pleasant. Pickup details are available online.

Pride Night at the Loons

Great Lakes Bay Pride and Dow GLAD+ have teamed up with the Great Lakes Loons to host the ninth annual Pride Night game on Friday, June 5.

The game starts at 7:05 p.m. at Dow Diamond and will feature local resources along the concourse and a Pride theme throughout the park. Tickets are available now online.

Mount Pleasant Pride Festival

Great Lakes Bay Pride and its Michigan Two-Spirit and Indigiqueer Coalition will host the Mount Pleasant Pride Festival from 2 to 5 p.m. June 20 at Broadway Park in Mount Pleasant.

Admission is free. Organizers describe the event as family-friendly and note that it will be alcohol- and drug-free out of respect for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Community. Additional festival information is available on the event page.

Mount Pleasant Drag Show

An after-party drag show will follow the festival at the Swan Creek Ballroom inside Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort. The show begins at 7 p.m. June 20 and will feature regional drag entertainers. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door.

Great Lakes Bay Pride Festival

The regional Great Lakes Bay Pride Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 27 at Jolt Credit Union Event Park in downtown Saginaw.

The free event will feature a children’s activity area, live entertainment, food trucks and more than 80 retail and resource vendors. Additional information is available on the festival event page.

After Party Drag Show

The annual after-party drag show will be held June 27 at the Dow Event Center Red Room in Saginaw following the festival.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with DJ Club Kid providing music until 8 p.m. before performances begin. Tickets are available online or at the door. Admission is restricted to those 18 and older. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
